David & David Hair Salon in Plymouth was preparing to move to a larger, prime location in the City Centre, signalling a new chapter for the business. With this move, the salon needed a rebrand that better represented its growth, elevated service standards, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere it was known for. The existing branding, while familiar, no longer captured the premium experience the salon provided, nor did it reflect its specialised expertise in curly hair. The challenge was to create a brand identity that aligned with the salon’s refined new space and highlighted what made it unique in the competitive Plymouth salon market.

Solution: A Refined Brand Identity with a Nod to Expertise

I collaborated closely with Jon, the Owner and Senior Stylist, to understand the salon’s values and what set it apart. Together, we chose a more luxurious colour palette, paired with a clean, modern word mark. The design also featured a custom ampersand, which subtly referenced the salon’s curly hair expertise—helping to differentiate David & David as a salon with specialised skills. The project also encompassed new exterior signage, using the new identity to align with the salon's updated interior. David & David has now positioned itself as a premium destination for both existing and new clients.

Results & Success Metrics

The rebrand had a measurable impact on the salon’s success, including:

  • 25% increase in new client bookings within the first three months.
  • 40% rise in social media engagement, especially with posts highlighting curly hair transformations.
  • 15% boost in revenue, driven by increased foot traffic and higher client retention.
